Kathy Stecko’s current body of work is a series of porcelain figures that distort and exaggerate the body. Using a combination of glazes, paints and found or fabricated objects; each figure creates a personal narrative exploring an inner conflict or dialogue. Stecko is the recipient of the Avery Hopwood Award, Traub Grant and a 2-month residency at Sculpture Space. Most recently her work has been exhibited at MANA Contemporary, Ibis Gallery, The Grand Rapids Art Museum, The Candy Factory and JanKossen Contemporary. Stecko earned her B.F.A from The University of Michigan and her M.F.A from The New York Academy of Art. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
