Description
The Ibuju collection embodies the seamless blend of design and storytelling, a core vision of Francisco Jaramillo, the creative director of Fango. This series was born out of a deep concern for the rampant deforestation and excessive exploitation of the precious native woods found in the endangered Amazon rainforest. As this magnificent jungle gradually fades away, Jaramillo and the skilled weavers at Fango embarked on a quest for alternative materials to construct functional furniture. In their exploration, they discovered the renewable Yaré fiber, often referred to as the "vine," which grows around the tree trunks in the Colombian Amazon. Local indigenous communities in southern Colombia have long utilized these fibers for their exquisite handcrafted weavings. Inspired by the native aesthetics and geometric patterns of primitive wooden artifacts, Jaramillo envisioned a new collection that embraces sustainable materials and gives life to the neo-folk furniture collection known as Ibuju.
